There’s always a catch, isn’t there? It’s only a matter of time before the sparks that General Hospital is letting fly between Sonny and Ava catch fire and put them to bed. But when ultimately the truth comes out — that Valentin has been messing with the mobster’s meds — the couple is sure to be taken away from us far more quickly than it was given to us.
See if you can argue with this logic: Sonny will blame his hookup with Ava on the drugs. How else would he justify sleeping once again with the femme fatale who murdered his old flame, Connie, and played a role in the death of his son Morgan to boot. Ava will be just as eager to write off the tryst as a fluke, what with the mobster’s estranged wife Nina being her best friend and all.
But just as we’d be trying to get used to the idea that the show was adding the couple to our list of pairings that were teased but never truly delivered (check it out here), Sonny would be forced to admit that he still feels a pull to Ava. He’s back on his meds. He’s fully himself again. And yet… He can’t get her out of his head.
Ava, too, would be struggling with returning Sonny to the friend zone. She knows all too well what kind of hell would break loose if it came to light that they had been together again — and that she had wanted to see where it led. Carly would have a field day with it. And Nina… Besides being hurt, she could prove to be dangerous.
Would Sonny and Ava ultimately throw caution to the wind and admit that they want to be together? Of course they would, no matter what the consequences. They’d be in for one bumpy ride, and so would we — happily so
