Bold & Beautiful Bluster: The Truth About Poppy’s Claim That Bill May Be Luna’s Father

Wait wuuut?! After unequivocally informing Bill that he was not the father of her daughter Luna, Bold & Beautiful’s Poppy has backtracked and told him that he may be her baby daddy after all. But we, along with viewers, have questions. Let’s get to the bottom of this, shall we?

When Bill initially broached the subject of Luna being his daughter, we were all as convinced as he was — the timing was right since he and Poppy hooked up at the music festival twenty-something years ago, not to mention that Bill and Luna connected right from the beginning.

But unlike Bill’s tofu loving son, Liam, Poppy didn’t waffle. She stated without hesitation and with no doubt that Bill was not the father. There was no room for “maybe” in the response she gave him… so why now, is she saying something completely different?!

After a suprise interruption from Bill’s ex-wife, Katie, whilst canoodling at his place, Poppy suddenly changed her tune, and we have to admit the timing is interesting.

Poppy was obviously intimidated by her boyfriend’s former mate, we know this because, well, she said so. That, along with Katie and Bill discussing Will, the son they share, may have triggered Poppy to feel some kind of way. And as we know, a green-eyed monster can make people behave questionably. Might Poppy have been spurred to give Bill some hope where Luna is concerned out of simple insecurity and jealousy? “Hey, Katie’s great, but you might share a child with me as well.”

We can’t discount it, but it would be a risky, and perhaps foolhardy, move given that in any sane world, Bill would ask for a DNA test. But Bold & Beautiful is a far cry from a sane world these days, so it’s anyone’s guess what might happen from here on out.

What we do know, is that before Poppy came out with this, we had a clear sense that she was hiding something. Something big. We knew it had to do with her sister Li, who mentioned her envy that Poppy was able to get pregnant so easily when she couldn’t conceive, and that it came on the heels of the revelation that Poppy had spent time living with Li’s family, only to have abruptly departed.

Bold & Beautiful fans’ soapy senses were on high alert as it appeared crystal clear that Luna’s dad could very likely prove to be Li’s husband Jack. But then a strange thing happened. There was reminiscing about Poppy and Finn having been close, all amid talk of Luna’s mother’s penchant for her special mints, which are drugs. Drugs that impair the memory.

We began asking the gasp-worthy question, “Could Finn be Luna’s father?!” It suddenly seemed entirely possible as she went to him asking him to be a father figure to her daughter. Finn, of course, became sidelined by his wife stabbing to death his Birth Mother™, who later turned up alive in an abandoned warehouse, and didn’t follow up. But it left us convinced that he might be the dad, which would certainly explain Poppy’s refusal to cough up the name of her baby daddy! How scandalous would that be?!

Knowing how poorly received it would be to identify Luna’s cousin as her father, particularly on the heels of the Special Mint Debacle of ’24, we’re certain that there would be a level of comfort in Poppy being able to let Bill think he’s the father.

It would certainly make both Bill and Luna happy, so what’s the harm, right? Well, as Bold & Beautiful viewers well know, secrets and lies are always exposed on the soap, and this would be no exception.

So, do we think Poppy is lying about Bill being the father? It’s possible that she attended the music festival an hooked up with Bill around the same time as she slept with either Jack or Finn, but she was so certain before that her beau was not the father, that all things considered, we find this switching of the gears highly suspicious.

Of course, it’s possible that she just didn’t trust Bill enough in the beginning to tell him the truth. But when Luna so desperately wanted to know who her father was, and had already bonded with the mogul, one would think that Poppy would have come clean back then if there was any chance he was her dad.

Given what we know, we have to conclude that Bill is not the father, and Poppy is digging herself a hole deep enough to eventually bury herself in. Egad.
