Bold & Beautiful Exclusive: Thorsten Kaye’s Next Leading Lady Just May Be Taylor-Made for Him

Lightning struck in 1995 when Thorsten Kaye was cast by One Life to Live as Patrick Thornhart. Not only did the character instantly catch on with viewers as a love interest for troubled Marty Saybrooke, but the actor and leading lady Susan Haskell fell for one another as well. Nearly three decades later, Kaye tells Soaps.com that he’d like to have his better half as a co-star again. In fact, “I’d love it,” he says. “She’s so good.”

At the moment, Haskell is busy with the couple’s daughters. But “one is in college already,” Kaye notes. “It makes me sad thinking about it. And the other one is on her way out the door and wants to do her own thing.” But once they’re settled, “I hope Susan will get back to acting, because she only gets more interesting as a person” as the years go by.

Kaye is well aware that there can be downsides to having one’s spouse as a castmate. “If you spend too much time with each other, it’s not always the best,” he acknowledges. “But if there was a great opportunity for it, yeah, it wouldn’t bother me. Absolutely not.”

If Bold & Beautiful is listening, Haskell would make a terrific recast for Ridge’s ex, Taylor, the shrink played originally by Hunter Tylo and last by Krista Allen. It didn’t make any sense that Steffy’s mom would miss her wedding or that Thomas’ mom wouldn’t be there when he underwent surgery for a brain bleed. And if ever Steffy needed Taylor, it’s now that Sheila has come back from the dead for the umpteenth time to have son Finn insist that his Biological Mother™would never try to murder her in cold blood.
