General Hospital Deathwatch: Will Brennan’s Get Out of Jail Free Card Cost Him His Life?

We were right there on May 17 with the General Hospital fans who were left gasping, “Holy crap! Does Brennan die?” after the baddie stabbed himself with a shiv behind bars. But there’s no need to start planning a funeral for the villain that Charles Mesure plays so suavely. The character is going to live.

First of all, Brennan is about as smart as Sonny is mercurial (even on his meds). In other words, the jailbird would know exactly where to plunge the blade for maximum drama and minimal danger. So yes, although he has to be rushed to General Hospital after losing a lot of blood, he’s gonna be fine.

Besides, the soap has invested a lot in the disgraced WSB chief — and despite headwriter after headwriter change, the powers that be have to have noticed the chemistry that Mesure has with Laura Wright. In fact, no sooner had Brennan Ginsu’d himself than at least one fan was requesting that Carly take a page from mom Bobbie’s book and play his Florence Nightingale.

Wright would definitely be on board with a Carly/Brennan pairing. She’s gone on the record as observing that hers “is a very strong character that… feels she’s right all the time and runs over people and their opinions… and I think he’s someone that can handle her.”

Carly’s “antics,” as the Emmy winner calls them, can be a lot. But “he’s someone that might find them charming,” Wright theorizes, “because he’s someone that has his own, I’m sure!”
