The writing couldn’t have been any bigger on the wall, could it? The Bold and the Beautiful set Finn down a one-way road to betraying Steffy the minute he started going on about his Birth Mother™ 24/7. And although he just, and we mean just, promised Steffy that if it came down to her or Sheila, he’d always pick her, he might as well have had his fingers crossed behind his back.
In the Friday, March 17, episode, Finn struggles mightily with his decision to stand by his wife instead of the woman who attempted to murder her, shot him, her mother, stepmother and grandmother, and killed Lance Day in cold bees. Er, blood. Whether on that very day or shortly thereafter, we know what’s coming (don’t we all?): Finn betrays Steffy by sneaking around behind her back to see Sheila.
It’s a very different kind of love triangle that’s forming. On one hand, the doctor wants to do right by his missus. On the other, short a few brain cells, he is as drawn to his murderous mother as a moth is to a flame. When he destroys his own life, he will have no one to blame but himself. Literally everyone he knows has explained in terms a 2-year-old would understand that Sheila is bad news.
Even the psycho’s fiancé Deacon has already had to remind her that she’s “changed.” (Sure, Jan.) Because what’s the first thing that she’s wanted to do since being given a new lease on life? Run around shocking people [bleep]less. We’d pay a gazillion dollars to see this scene play out. But that’s one confrontation that will never happen. (Read why here.)
The only question is, after Finn betrays Steffy, what then? There have already been signs that Bold & Beautiful is going to move him toward Hope — presumably just in time for Thomas to return. And Steffy is now situated to get thrown into a triangle with Liam and Ivy, whose intentions toward her old flame are pretty clear.
