General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the show has an interesting opportunity now that Heather Webber (Alley Mills) is finding her sanity. Although Heather’s cobalt poisoning drove her to commit some truly disturbing crimes, now she’s seeing her mistakes clearly and has plenty of regrets about the past.
During a recent conversation with Laura Collins (Genie Francis), Heather wondered if maybe she could’ve been a good mom if things had been different.
Since Esme Prince’s (Avery Pohl) body was never found, perhaps Heather could still find out whether that’s possible.
What’s the point of keeping Heather around at all without any family connections on canvas?
This story is just begging for Esme’s eventual return – if only to see how she interacts with her newly sane bio mom.
Esme was pretty horrified over having Heather for a mother when she had amnesia, but she changed her tune after her memories flooded back.
That led to Esme visiting Heather for advice and sharing some moments of genuine connection with her.
In other words, Heather and Esme finally got along because they were both mentally disturbed.
Esme was eventually able to bond with Heather because her mom had the same twisted way of thinking.
Now everything has changed since Heather’s received her new hip replacement and is doing so much better.
This storyline could be building to Heather’s freedom, so that could set the stage for Esme’s comeback and a tense reunion.
It’s easy to imagine a situation where Heather tries to guard Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) from Esme’s kidnapping attempt.
Heather might argue that Esme can’t rip that little boy away from Laura and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) – especially if Esme has no money and intends to just live with Ace on the run.
There was a time when Heather wanted to flee with Esme and Ace as a family, but she may insist she was wrong to think like that.
We might see Heather try to talk some sense into Esme and push her to turn herself in.
Of course, Esme will feel betrayed if Heather’s suddenly trying to hand her over to the cops and blocking her efforts to steal Ace.
It could rile Esme up in a big way and lead to her physically harming Heather if she has to.
Then again, GH writers could swing this storyline in a totally different direction if Heather is faking her recovery and running a long con!
In that case, maybe Heather could insist she’s been waiting for Esme and agree to make a quick escape together with Ace.
Regardless, our predictions point to some surprising drama for Heather down the road, so stick with us for updates on whether Esme’s return news might be in the works.
