Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers indicate been a while since fans have seen Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) and Tony DiMera in Salem, as the couple are currently traveling the globe and haven’t been on canvas in quite a while.
Actor Thaao Penghlis recently spoke to Soap Opera News, and it seems like there’s a good chance that fans may not see the couple again for good.
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Will Tony DiMera (Or Andre DiMera) Ever Return To Salem?
During his Soap Opera News interview, Penghlis talked about travel, his podcast, and new book, “Seducing Celebrities One Meal At A Time”. He was also asked if fans would ever see him back in the land of soaps soon, and he replied, “No, I’m leaving the soap world.
There are changes happening that I can’t discuss right now. It feels like it’s coming from somewhere else, maybe with a different writer. When people start taking you for granted, you change. I love where I am now. It’s a sort of awakening.”
He also notes that, “Yes. The fans really like Anna and Tony because they bring humor, charm, and romance to the show. People love seeing long-term relationships like Bill and Susan Hayes.
But things are changing with new characters and budget constraints. Some characters are not there anymore. It’s time to move on and appreciate the time that’s been spent.”
Days Spoilers – The End Of An Era
Tony DiMera entered Salem in 1981 and was the first DiMera who came to town. Penghlis has played the character, as well as Andre DiMera, on and off over the years and has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy three times over the years for his work on DOOL.
Penghlis is also known for his role on General Hospital (GH) as Victor Cassadine, a character he played for shorts stints in 1981 and 2014, until fellow Days alum, Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane Donovan/Drew Donovan) took over the part in 2021.
Still, nothing in daytime drama is ever set in stone, so perhaps there’s always a chance that Thaao could return at some point in the future!
