Everyone in The Young and the Restless‘ Genoa City is breathing easier, thinking that Jordan has been permanently removed from the picture. Of course, viewers know that in reality, Victor has her stashed away in a secret bunker even as he lets folks believe that she’s deader than the proverbial doornail.

Obviously, this plan eventually is going to come back to bite him in the butt. What Victor may not realize, however, is that even as he’s keeping his family safe from one threat, another is looming on the horizon. But those who know that no soap conversation is every casual might have picked up on exactly what trouble we’re referring to… especially if they were paying attention during the episode which aired on Monday, May 6!

While discussing the trauma that daughter Summer has recently endured at the hands of Jordan, Nick and Phyllis couldn’t help but be reminded of the time a madwoman’s kiss nearly ended the life of their beloved daughter. Newer viewers may not have understood the conversation, but those who were watching back in 2009 will recall that Paul Williams’ sister, Patty Williams, purposefully ate peanut butter and then kissed young Summer on the lips, sending her into anaphylactic shock.

Summer was too young to realize just how crazy Patty was… or that mop-tops were so last season.

Worse, Patty — who at the time was posing as a woman named Mary Jane — then led people to believe that Phyllis had been the one who’d kissed Summer in an effort to recapture Nick’s attention. Summer was briefly in a coma, and wound up in the care of her grandparents Victor and Nikki while the incident was investigated.

Obviously, Summer’s son being targeted by Jordan triggered those terrible memories in Phyllis and Nick. But was this simply a conversational flashback, or a preview of things to come? Young & Restless has scored big recently by mining its storied past in order to create new drama. Before Jordan showed up to “avenge” her late sister, Eve, Cameron Kirsten rose from his supposed grave in order to terrorize Sharon and her family.

Unlike Cameron — whom we’d spent the last 20 years believing to be dead — Patty is out there somewhere, presumably still in the mental institution in which she was last seen. The character was last portrayed by Stacy Haiduk, who is of course currently busy causing trouble as Kristen DiMera over on Days of Our Lives. That does not, however, rule out the possibility of her doing a guest stint on Young & Restless, what with both shows operating under the umbrella of Sony Pictures Television.

It’s not nice to call someone a “crazy cat lady,” but in Patty’s case, we’ll make an exception.

It’s also worth noting that while Haiduk made Patty (and her beloved Miss Kitty) something of a fan favorite, several other actresses have played the part in the past. Heck, the character was originally introduced way back in 198o, eventually becoming the much younger bride of Jack Abbott, whose mistreatment originally pushed her over the edge!

How might Patty be reintroduced? Well, Paul’s unbalanced sister got to know the Newman ranch very well over the years, even hiding out there on more than one occasion. Might she wind up stumbling upon Jordan, leading to the most unholy of scheme teams? The thought of just how much torment they could reign down upon the Newman and Abbott families is positively shiver-inducing…
