DiMera enterprises is in turmoil right now on Days of Our Lives. After Stefan wrested control away from the rest of the family, Gabi was sent to prison for murdering Li, then he was roped into Clyde’s drug running. Now, he’s a felon and the family company is in desperate need of a new CEO who won’t tank the stock. As far as EJ’s concerned, he’s the only man for the job.

We feel like being district attorney and CEO of a massive corporate conglomerate is about as big a conflict of interest as it comes, but what do we know? Kristen and Stefan have already started scheming to keep the company away from their brother. First, there was Kristen’s call to Wendy and Li’s father, Wei Shin. Now, as of the Thursday, April 18 episode, Stefan has agreed to help Kristen become the next CEO — so long as she gets Gabi get out of jail!

And that finally brings us right back to the mystery we’ve been waiting half a year to return to: Who really killed Li?

With a tense expression, Kristen holds a phone to her ear.

The thing is, we’re pretty sure Li isn’t dead, especially since Remington Hoffman was spotted at Days of Our Lives‘ 15,000th episode celebration. So we’ve got a feeling we won’t just be getting one return soon, but three. Is it any coincidence that we saw Hoffman and Mr. Shin was brought up for the first time in ages, just as Days of Our Lives teased newcomer Cherie Jimenez, who, seems very likely to be playing a recast Gabi after Camila Banus’ exit?

Wei may come to Salem to set things straight with DiMera, but we’d be downright shocked if a man like that didn’t decide to multitask and get to the bottom of his son’s murder. And why wouldn’t Kristen multitask as well and turn to him to help her find Li’s true killer? After all, Stefan has made sure that that mystery is now tied to her gaining the CEO seat at DiMera.

Wei’s got the power, the money, the resources and the iron will to get to the bottom of  his son’s death. Kristen’s resourceful and may have gotten a full pardon for herself, but that was by riding on the coattails of Clyde’s pardon. To get Gabi out of prison, she’ll likely need help too.

A stern looking Wei extends his hand to a tense Li, who holds a phone.

Maybe she’ll convince Mr. Shin to at least look into what actually happened. And he’d agree, not because he cares about Gabi, but because his pride demands to know exactly what happened, how it happened and who needs to be hurt for Li’s death. And that’s when he’ll start realizing that things don’t add up.

Wei Shin is many things, but he’s not going to want to punish Gabi for a crime she didn’t commit if he starts realizing she didn’t do it. He may not be a fan of hers, but this will be about punishing his son’s real killer. Or perhaps we should say, co-conspirator. Realizing Li isn’t dead is one thing, but figuring out what actually happened will be a whole new mystery.

As for who may have helped him if he is alive, we have our theories as well. For now, we’ll just say that their initials start with an E and end with J. Either way, we couldn’t be happier that Days of Our Lives is finally getting back to this mystery because it means we’ll finally be seeing Gabi again sooner than we thought! And Wei Shin. And more thank likely, Li…
