For decades, General Hospital has told viewers that crime pays — and extremely well. But Sonny’s days as the kingpin of Port Charles appear to be numbered.

In the preview that ABC just released for the week of April 15, John connects the dots for Anna between the Teflon don and his brutal beating. But since the federal agent has no proof that Sonny was behind the attack, the task of putting prison bars between him and the outside world falls to…

Laura?!? Yes, Laura. Though the mayor and the mobster who really runs Port Charles have been chummy for ages — her comatose daughter Lulu was even married to his son Dante — she approaches half brother Cyrus with a suggestion… that he press charges against Sonny after all. (Ha — if only she knew that he’d also ordered Dex to execute Cyrus!)

Meanwhile, Sonny’s downward spiral continues. Having a full-on snit fit, he declares that he’s done, done, completely and totally done with Jason, Nina, Carly, Michael and Dex. Which leaves, of all people, Ava in a position to be the likeliest person to let him know that something’s wrong with his bipolar medication.

If the femme fatale does blow the whistle on the tampered meds, it would be quite a moment of redemption for her, considering that it was her messing with his son Morgan’s prescription years ago that inadvertently hastened his demise. If she doesn’t wave a red flag, not immediately, anyway, we may finally get a coupling that we’ve wanted for years — but with one big obstacle about to be dropped in front of them.
