If it’s true that all dogs go to heaven (and as far as we’re concerned, it very much is), then a very good boy just got his wings. On April 5th, Days of Our Lives‘ Elia Cantu (Jada) took to Instagram to say goodbye to her beloved pup Danny after “12 years of unconditional love.

“This pain is unreal,” the actress added with a truly beautiful video of one of their last days at the beach together. “I’m still trying to process it all. Danny got his angel wings and took his trip to Heaven on 4/4/24. I love and miss you so much Danny! This moment at the beach last week together will forever be one of my cherished memories. It was a beautiful day.”

And over it all, Cantu played Charlie’s farewell from All Dogs Go to Heaven.

Folks who have followed Cantu know how much she adored and cherished her good boy, who she also dubbed Falkor from The Neverending Story. Just weeks before, she wrote in another post that, “Everyday with this sweetheart is a blessing.”

Danny, it seems, passed away from cancer. And as difficult and painful as that is, we can only hope that at the very least, it gave Jada’s portrayer the time to say goodbye to her pup.

The condolences poured in from so many folks who know the pain she’s going through. “Sending you love,” Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) wrote. “I’m so sorry, Elia.” And Sal Stowers (ex-Lani) added a short while later, “I’m so sorry, Elia. Sending you so much love. Big, big hug.”

As Cantu wrote, “The grief is coming waves.” And while those waves may never completely disappear, in time, they’ll become gentle reminders of the unconditional love they shared over 12 years. Our condolences go out to Cantu, as well as our thanks for sharing such beautiful glimpses of love.
