Young & Restless Recasts a Key Character — Who Might Just Reunite ‘Skyle’

Summer and Kyle are getting a new son on The Young and the Restless! We aren’t, though, talking about a pregnancy here — especially since they still aren’t together. Although that would be a perfectly soapy twist! But no, the show’s announced that starting on April 12, Harrison will be played by soap newcomer Redding Munsell!
Munsell will be taking over from Kellen Enriquez who’s played Kyle’s adorable kid since he first debuted as Ahland’s son back in May of 2021. Though Munsell is still fairly new to the screen, he’s already made a darn good first impression, appearing in the Red, White, and Blue with soap alum Brittany Snow (who played Guiding Light‘s Daisy). The short piece that was nominated just this year for Best Live Action Short Film at the 96th Academy Awards!

There’s no word on why the change came about, but there can be a ton of reasons why shows recast characters, especially when it comes to kids. Sometimes they get aged up, but other times it can come down to wanting to switch story directions.
Recently, Summer and Kyle have been looking for a new nanny for Harrison and flirted with the idea of hiring Summer’s newfound cousin Claire. But then Victor told Summer what happened and she ran straight to Kyle to say, “Let’s not do that.”
That, of course, may not be the end of it once Summer actually gets to know Claire, but for now, they may need to find another nanny for Harrison. With that said, if the show is about to embark on a new story for him, one that we could see happening is deciding it was time to play matchmaker and get “Skyle” back together! (Though, if he starts calling his dad and stepmom “Skyle,” we may have a bigger problem than Claire.)
No matter what the show has in store for Harrison, welcome, Munsell, to the daytime family!
