The Days of Our Lives/Outlander Crossover We Didn’t Know We Needed: ‘Maybe Xander Is a Distant Relative of Jamie’s’

Break out the umbrella, because it’s raining Scotsmen! Days of Our Lives is currently on a scheduled filming hiatus, which means the actors have the chance to get out and get some traveling done. Paul Telfer (Xander) and wife Carmen Cusack are over in the UK, where naturally you can’t walk five steps without bumping into someone from Scotland.

No, we’re kidding — especially when visiting a city as big as London! Yet somehow Telfer did accidentally run into friend and fellow Scotsman Sam Heughan! Yes, that Sam Heughan from Outlander!

Telfer shared the encounter with a few photos on Twitter/X, writing, “By an absolutely incredible coincidence, Carmen Cusack and I randomly bumped into our fave Scotsman, Sam Heughan, while wandering around London! What are the chances!?”

Pretty darn low, we’d say! Check out the photos below. They, though, were just a part of the fun!

“Can’t believe he spotted me,” Telfer marveled in a reply to his tweet, adding in another one, “Just incredible good luck!”

Heughan and Telfer have been pals since starring in 2010’s Young Alexander the Great together and you won’t have to do much digging to find them good naturedly ribbing each other on social media. This time around, though, when fan Deidre mentioned the crossover between shows, Telfer dropped a brilliantly fun response.

“Maybe Xander is a distant relative of Jamie’s,” he suggested with a wink.

OK, so we’re not the only ones who’ve seen the similarities, right? That’s especially true when it comes to their problem with shirts (wearing them, that is) and their ability to wield a weapon. Sometimes, they even do both those things at the same time! (As you may have seen in the photo up top.)

Plus, Jamie was a highland warrior and Xander was, well, a Kiriakis murderer and criminal. But just like Jamie learned to confront his own worst impulses and sexism to treat Claire as an equal in their relationship, Xander’s worked on himself to become a better person and build a life with Sarah!

Now, we’re not saying Days of Our Lives should engage in a little time travel, but if they did, it wouldn’t be a first! Dark Shadows, Guiding Light, One Life to Live — they’ve all taken trips back into the past. Maybe Xander should get in touch with his roots on his mother’s side and step back to meet his ancestors! After he gets his father’s side sorted, that is.

Days of Our Lives and Outlander are both produced by Sony Pictures Television, so this has got to be workable, right? Come on, let’s make it happen. And if we don’t want to go the time travel aspect, maybe we could treat Jamie’s appearances as flashbacks as Xander digs into his ancestry!
