Ever since General Hospital brought Steve Burton back onto the canvas as Jason, there have been a whole lotta rumors floating around. This is, of course, nothing new where the internet is concerned. But several of them have been so outrageous that the actor felt he had no choice but to confront them head-on.

Referring to some of the ridiculousness being posted by less-than-reputable sites, Burton made it clear that “nothing they’re posting is even remotely true.”

During the Daily Drama podcast, which Burton hosts alongside his General Hospital co-star Brandford Anderson (Spinelli), the twosome addressed the biggest — and fakest — of the rumors in the most direct manner possible.

“They said that I only signed a three-month contract, and then I’m dying,” he exclaimed.

“Hey, guess what?” he added. “It’s a two-year contract, and I’m not dying!”

Of course, there’s every chance that his other alter ego, Days of Our Lives‘ Harris, could wind up biting the bullet. Burton is appearing on both soaps simultaneously thanks to the fact that the Salem-set sudser tapes so far in advance, and there’s no word yet on how he’ll be written off. (We’d have bet even money that his recent gunshot wound would have done Harris in, but no!)

Meanwhile, Burton teased that Jason’s story was only getting started. “Next week,” he warned, “there’s a lot of good scenes!”

Britt and Jason make love GH

After discussing the recent scenes in which Jason found out from Carly that her much-loved mom, Bobbie, had died in his absence, both men acknowledged that Jason was in for an emotional roller coaster. After all, he’s yet to be informed of several Port Charles losses, such as Epiphany and Britt, the latter of whom he was involved with before her untimely passing.

“It sounds like you’re going to be crying a lot,” laughed Anderson.

For more of their conversation — including talk of a mysterious gun shot, and an explanation of exactly what “hiccup” nearly derailed an emotional scene — check out the entire interview above. After all, there’s no better way to put rumors to rest than by hearing the real story straight from the proverbial horse’s mouth!
