Leo, it seems, is on a path to redemption on Days of Our Lives. He’s started therapy with Marlena and has begun diving into why he’s such an insecure cad. Unsurprisingly, a lot of his behavior seems to stem from how horribly mom Diana Colville treated him his whole life.

And so, Leo’s taken it upon himself to visit mother in prison and confront her in tomorrow’s episode. As delightful as Greg Rikaart and Judith Chapman are, though, (and as amusing as Leo and Diana can be), it sounds like it will be a surprisingly intense encounter.

Chapman previewed the prison visit to Soap Opera Digest, sharing the incredible response she got for the scenes, from the crew and director to Days of Our Lives’ music composer!

Days' Leo leans over the table in the prison meeting room, while Diana looks at up him from her chair

As for what goes down within the prison scenes between Diana and Leo, the actress just shared that, “Diana was not happy about him going to Marlena for help and Leo is like, ‘Yeah, Mom, I’m figuring this out because you messed me up so much in my life.’ She stays in control so she’s not breaking down but her facade definitely cracks. By the time we finished the scenes, everybody who was in earshot started applauding.”

Confronting pain and trauma — especially within a family — is never easy, but sometimes it can lead to healing and growing. At one time, we would have said those words would never apply to Leo, but perhaps there’s hope for change. And that applies to Diana too — which could open up a whole era for her!

“I had a great time,” Chapman shared, “and Diana is fun to play. She’s a damaged person and damaged people are always redeemed on soaps.”

Days' Diana pushes against the prison door in tears

This is so true — even when it comes to damaged serial killers! Diana, after all, while always flawed, wasn’t always an unhinged attempted murderer who would stop at nothing to take Marlena out. She’s been serving her time, which is more than a lot of villains have done in Salem. Clearly, something went horribly wrong with her over the years she was off-screen and raised Leo, but like her son, there’s always room to grow.

So if the show ever decided to bring her back, there’s no doubt Diana could be a viable long-term character once again. And as Chapman told Digest, ““My phone works, not that I’m hustling and looking for jobs but if Days were to call, I’d go back with pleasure. I love the work.”

Would you like to see Chapman bring Diana back to Salem — without her murderous tendencies?
