Young & Restless’ Chance Is About to Get His Heart Stomped on Again — Here’s How We Know

Young & Restless’ Summer finally landed the new object of her affection after months of secretly pining and things are just starting to heat up between her and Chance — but a new development indicates that the end is already in sight for the lovebirds!

Summer was devastated after her split from the love of her life, Kyle. She left the Abbott mansion and her stepson, Harrison, very reluctantly, and only when her estranged husband demanded she do so.

After taking a suite at the Genoa City Athletic Club and suffering the hurt that came from watching Kyle take up with an unapologetic Audra, Summer eventually put her ex and their divorce drama behind her… and began noticing someone new.

Complicating matters, that ‘someone new’ was not only her Aunt Abby’s ex-husband, but he was already dating her mother’s former rival, Sharon. Chance being Abby’s ex wasn’t really an issue for Summer, given that said aunt slept with her husband Austin while they were still married. But Summer was determined not to step on Sharon’s toes, even as her admiration and feelings for Chance grew by the day.

Luckily for Summer, Sharon had an epiphany after a standalone episode and realized that there was no future for her and the ex-cop-turned-corporate-exec, and cut him loose.

Having already connected with Chance over her mother’s legal troubles and a shared love for a certain band, it was a no-brainer that Summer would be there to pick up the pieces.

Fast-forward past a couple of awkward and snooze-worthy dates and Summer and Chance are now lovers. But just as their love story is picking up steam — both figuratively and literally with a sexy shower scene — along come the writers to turn cold water on it.

Soaps have a way of hinting where things are going with the choices made, and this story is no exception. Young & Restless spoilers tease that by week’s end, Summer will walk right out of Chance’s big, strong arms and back into Kyle’s orbit when ‘Skyle’ are challenged as parents.

The timing of this crisis with Harrison clearly indicates where things are headed — directly into a love triangle in which Summer is about to be torn between her ex and her new love interest. We expect Summer to be repeatedly drawn into spending time with Kyle and Harrison, while Chance waits in the wings.

Chance will have no choice but to support Summer in this matter, but the circumstances may give him an extreme case of deja vu considering his ex-wife Abby took to spending time with Devon and Dominic until the devastated cop walked in on the best friends cheating.

As for Summer’s feelings about her ex-husband, her portrayer Alison Lanier told SOAPS: “There’s always going to be a part of Summer that loves Kyle. How could she not, after everything they went through to be together?”

Indeed, Kyle is considered by many to be the love of Summer’s life and vice-versa. Which means it’s not looking good for Chance, who seems destined to get his heart stomped on all over again!
