General Hospital Spoilers: Laura’s Fury Toward Sonny Ignites An Alliance With Anna To Take Him Down
General Hospital spoilers reveal Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) surprised Police Commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) when she showed up at her office last month and declared herself emotionally separate from past beliefs that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was a good man.
It was somewhat like looking in a mirror for Anna. They’d both come to the same conclusion about their longtime friend roundabout the same time, though under different circumstances.
Hearing that she shouldn’t hold back on going after Sonny if she ever got the chance was all Anna needed to hear from Laura to give herself the green light to do so. But Laura wasn’t necessarily pushing for Anna to go out of her way and get Sonny either — until now.
General Hospital Spoilers — Cyrus Was the Last Straw
Laura has stood up for Sonny over the years during some of his worst transgressions. She never saw him as a perfect man. Rather, she loved him in spite of his imperfections.
She saw the mobster Sonny as a separate piece of her friend — perhaps a traumatized piece that needed to be healed.
While she never agreed with his criminal activities, she let him off the hook every time the judges did the same, telling herself he was declared not guilty — although she knew he was hardly a saint.
But she always walked a fine line knowing Sonny didn’t harm anyone out of malice — until he brutally beat her brother, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), within inches of his life. That changed everything.
GH Spoilers Hint Dex is the Nail in Sonny’s Coffin
Laura is already on the precipice of being okay with Sonny going to prison if Anna finds evidence on him that leads to a conviction. But when Laura hears about what happened to Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), she’s probably going to lose it.
Beating a frail old man who couldn’t properly defend himself was bad enough. Going after a cop in the making at a close family friend’s wedding is worse in some ways.
Seeing the physical damage to Dex’s face and body might spur Laura to head straight back to Anna’s office. They don’t really need Dex’s statement or cooperation to make a case out of this when there was a willing witness on-site.
General Hospital Spoilers — Laura Goes Looking for a Fight
Anna has been holding back on going after Sonny since Dex said he wasn’t going to file charges. She respected that decision, but she may change her mind upon the Mayor’s urging.
That being said, neither of them knows of the most recent turn of events between Sonny and his former henchman. Dex is off the hook, or so the unstable Sonny claims.
The mob boss says he’ll steer clear of him as long as Dex does the same. The state filing charges against Sonny — even without Dex’s support — could come across to the mafia master as far from staying out of his way.
Will Laura’s desire to see Anna put Sonny behind bars end up costing Dex his life?
